Giving Back

An important part of our philosophy is to share our blessings with others. “Giving back” carries rewards beyond the obvious and tangible. Through our chapel offerings and fund raising activities, our students learn to give to those in need and those less fortunate. We make the world a better place by participating in improving our community as well as reaching out to others during their time of need.

A partial list of the recipients of our giving include: Venice Bible Tabernacle, Pennies for Patients, Children’s Hospital, Westside Food Bank, Heifers International, Habitat for Humanity, Make a Wish Foundation, and relief aid for victims of natural disasters in our own country and around the world.  In addition to monetary gifts, our students have collected food, clothing, Christmas presents, school supplies and personal hygiene products for those at home and abroad. With the Christmas Family Outreach Program each classroom “adopts” a family and does their best to give each member of that family their desired Christmas wishes. Wrapped gifts and special cards help these needy families celebrate the joy of the season knowing that others around
them care.

Students are also encouraged to become involved in their community by giving of themselves. Each year the 7th and 8th grade classes serve lunch at the homeless shelter at Bible Tabernacle. In the past students have brought handmade cards, refreshments, entertainment and a smile to seniors living in a care facility. Students have also volunteered in Read-A-Thons to raise money for the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Venice Lutheran School has also introduced Community Service Month.

Each year we look for new ways for students to become involved and experience the joy of giving back to others.
